Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Agnes Edith (Phillips) Allen, age 79, of Sutherlin, OR, died in her home Thursday, March 23, 2017. Agnes was born in Campbell, New York, in 1937.
She graduated Valedictorian of her class at Campbell Central High School in 1954. After high school, Agnes attended the Arnot Ogden School of Nursing in Elmira, New York, where she received her R.N. During this time, Agnes met the love of her life Everett Allen. Agnes and Everett were married in Thurston, New York on February 14, 1958.
Both Agnes and Everett worked in the nursing field. They lived in Bath, Syracuse, and Wheeler, New York, before moving to Roseburg in January of 1964. Agnes worked at Douglas Community Hospital, Grandview Nursing Home and nursing homes in Florence and Creswell.
Agnes loved to garden, both flowers and produce. She and Everett spent many hours caring for their home and yard. She loved to camp, travel and read. Agnes loved her Lord and was active in the Calpooia Free Methodist Church. A high point in her faithful journey was seeing Billy Graham live in Madison Square Garden in 1957.
Agnes is survived by her loving husband, Everett; son, Mark (Rebecca) Allen; daughters, Karen (Brian) Parret and Rhonda (Tom) Lieb; grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah and Ian Moore, Katielynn and Joe Parrett, Rachael and David Lieb; siblings, Dewaine (Dorothy) Phillips, Janette (Harold) Nealey and Virginia (Dwight) Chapman; many nieces and nephews; and her very spoiled papillion/pekinese mix dog, Cocoa. She is preceded in death by father, James; and her mother, Bertha.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses with a memorial service to be held at 3 p.m. at the Calpooia Free Methodist Church; 333 Church Road, Sutherlin, OR 97479, Pastor Stewart Fowler is presiding, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Calpooia Free Methodist Church.
