Alma Amelia "Japp" Mcallister

ALMA AMELIA (Japp) McALLISTER age 83 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Thursday August 14, 2008 at her home. She was born July 15, 1925, one of 10 children born to Jonas and Agusta Sjogren. Alma was born and raised in Elgarose and lived in the Roseburg area most of her life. She worked as a welder in the Tacoma shipyards during WWII. On October 14, 1945 she married JR McAllister who preceded him in death in 1984. Alma enjoyed bowling, traveling and most of all she loved her family and friends. Survivors include her children Sharon Hawelu and her husband Clarence of Roseburg, Oregon, Rene McAllister and his wife Barbara of Tacoma, Washington and Susan Lindsay and her husband David of Salem, Oregon; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Alma was preceded by her parents Jonas and Agusta and siblings Olaf, Bernard, Stanley, Edward, Edna, Elsie, Andy, and Tekla. Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday August 23, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Eden Cemetery. Private cremation rites have been held. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.
