ALVA J (JIM) (TEX) MARSHALL
On July 28, 2015 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away after a long bout with Alzheimer's. Tex was born September 26, 1930 in Glover, Oklahoma to Fred and Ethel Marshall. He was 84. The family moved to the Roseburg area in 1948 and Tex graduated from Roseburg High School in 1949. He worked in the construction field for many years, spending over 30 years with Todd Building Company as a commercial building superintendent. He loved his job and worked on many large buildings throughout Oregon and Washington. Tex joined the Oregon National Guard at the age of 19. He loved the military. Tex was the local Company Commander and retired as Captain after 21 years of service. He enjoyed water skiing, snowmobiling, and deep sea fishing through the years. Tex will be missed by his family who he loved so much and took special care of throughout his life. He leaves his wife Mary, of 62 years, daughter Amber Fronk (Jim), grandson Andy Fronk, granddaughter Alexis Stone (Jeff), two great grandchildren Bailey and Casen Fronk, brother Roy Marshall (Margie), two sisters Wilma Jean Van Meter (Biggie) and Elda Lea Hauptmann, numerous nieces and nephews. Tex was preceded in death by his parents and brother Calvin. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Military honors will be provided the VFW District 12 Honor Guard. Donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer"s Foundation or to your favorite charity. Special thanks to his caregivers at Callahan Court who gave him such caring and loving time and care.
