Alvin Stanley Johnson went to his heavenly home Sunday morning, August 19, 2012. He was born August 23, 1919, in Baker City, Oregon, to A.G. and Cora Johnson. He was married to Ethel Johnson for 46 years and she preceded him in death in 1994. He married Dorothy Richards in 1996. There were 2 areas of life that Alvin was very passionate about; one was his family and the other was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As a result of that passion he was active in church regardless of his location. He was active with the Gideon's, served on the board at the Roseburg Rescue Mission, and in the last 20 years of his life he was active at Vine Street Baptist Church. Alvin made his living in the poultry industry and pioneered many innovations within that industry, especially in his earlier years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son David Johnson, daughter Paula Irvine, and son John Johnson, their spouses, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at Vine Street Baptist Church. Pastor Rick Hahn will officiate. Private interment was held in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
