A loving father and husband, Dale Stevenson went home to the Lord on Dec, 25, 2008 at the age of 74. Dale was welcomed into heaven by his mother, father and step- Father, along with his five brothers and sisters, his second wife Mari, and his daughter Brenda.
Dale was born on July 29, 1934 in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Raymond Francis Stevenson and Laura Ardena Savage. He was very proud of his Savage family heritage and the pioneering role they had in settling the Rogue Valley.
Dale drove truck most of his life, first for his older brother Orville, and then for Rough & Ready Lumber, retiring in 1996. He then served as a Host at Indian Mary Park For 8 yrs. From 1996 to 2004 and enjoyed it immensely, making many new friends. He met Joan Otten aka "Jodi", Jan. 20th, 2004, and after a 14 month courtship they were married April 2, 2005 at Jerome Prarie Bible Church, South of Grants Pass, Oregon. The Newly weds then moved to Jodi's 13 acres just west of Sutherlin, Or.
Dale loved camping and traveling to visit friends and family all across the country. He lived the later years of his life by following his favorite passages from the Bible; John 13:34 "you shall love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind, this is the first And great commandment and the second is, you shall love your neighbor as you love yourself."
Dale is survived by his wife "Jodi" Stevenson, his three sons, Arthur Stevenson, Derrick Stevenson, and David Stevenson, and his two daughters, Judy Bach and Christy Alverez. Dale was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. As well as his extended family, Tanya Russell, Sabrina Janzen, Chuck Morris, & Carmen Edmunds, their spouses & children who quickly grew to love Dale for the great joy be brought to their mother/grandmother.
A celebration of Dale's life will be held at the Sutherland Family Church at 878 West Sixth Avenue, Thursday January 15, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Paul Glazner will be joined by Pastor James Downing of the Jerome Prairie Bible Church in officiating the service. Refreshments to immediately follow. In leau of flowers the family encourages donations in Dale's memory to be made to the National Federation of the Blind of Oregon: 1616 5th Street NE, Salem, OR, 97301.
