Anne C. Hope

Anne traveled over the rainbow on May 2nd 2012 after a seven year battle with cancer. She joins her Mother, Addie Lou James Pirtle and Father, Farris Pirtle who passed before her.
She leaves behind three children: Joel Hope with wife, Tarah; Holly Hope Burton with husband, Rick; and Will Hope with wife, Ingrid. She also had six very special grandchildren: Brendon Burton, Tom J. Hope, Evan Hope, Talia Hope and Delaney Burton. She is also survived by her four siblings: Lynwood Pirtle of Texas, Joe Pirtle of California, Jack Pirtle of Arizona and Fair Pirtle Sobel of Arizona. She also had many nieces and nephews.
Anne's main focus in life was her family. She was the best Mother a person could wish for, an exceptional Grandmother and a cherished Sister.
She was born in Bonham Texas on January 4, 1942 and later moved to Norwalk California where she graduated from Cerritos High School in 1959. She continued her education at Long Beach Jr. College and Humbolt State, where she majored in Education. She met Tom Hope while attending Humbolt; they were married for fifteen years and had three children together.
Anne operated a private kindergarten when her children were young and they all benefitted from having her as their teacher. She began working for Head Start in the late 70's and continued for the next 26 years as a teacher and educational supervisor until she retired in 2004. Anne had a great love for children and gave up retirement for a few years to become the nanny for two special boys.
Anne enjoyed the simple things in life: floating the river, hiking, picking berries in the summer, gardening, reading, visiting with her friends, and attending any game or event that her grandchildren were involved in. She was a very positive person and had a smile for everyone. She will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have known her.
A private Celebration of Life ceremony will take place on May 27th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
