Barbara Ann Neptune passed away at the age of 81 at her home on the morning of November 29th 2019, with her Son Rex and his wife Kelly by her side. There will be a “Celebration of Life” on January 4th, at Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg at 11:00 a.m., followed by a light lunch and Barbara’s favorite treat, root beer floats. Barbara was preceded in death by her Husband Ken, and both her Parents Irene and Lawrence.
Barbara was born in Miami, Oklahoma on January 2, 1938 to Irene and Lawrence Bellm
Her parents moved the family west to Oregon and they settled in the tiny City of Chiloquin, Oregon.
Both her Mother Irene and Barbara were members of the Seneca, Cayuga, Modoc tribe in Chiloquin. Barbara grew up to attend grammar school in Chiloquin and also Klamath Falls, Oregon for a short time. Barbara moved to Dillard, Oregon with family friends to attend school with her best friend where she then attended and Ggraduated from Roseburg High School.
After High school Barbara enrolled in the University of Oregon in Eugene where she received her degree in business accounting. Barbara returned home to Roseburg after attending the University of Oregon, packed her bags and went on vacation to Hawaii. She came home from her vacation and told her Mother Irene she was moving to Hawaii and she did. Barbara lived in Hawaii for sometime before moving back home to Roseburg where she rekindled a high school friendship with Ken Neptune. Barbara and Ken Neptune were married at her Mother’s home in November of 1960.
Barbara and Ken welcomed their first Child in June of 1963, a son Rex. Followed in June of 1965, a daughter Stacie.
Ken and Barbara purchased property off of Parker Rd in Roseburg in 1961. Her Uncle Walt with some assistance from Ken built their family home on the property, where she resided until her passing. In the 1970’s Ken and Barbara decided to open a Mobile home Park on the property, in which Barbara managed until 2014. Their Son Rex and his wife Kelly are continuing on with the management of Neptunes Mobile Park on Neptune Lane in Roseburg.
Barbara also was a long time member of the Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg where she was office secretary for a time. She also enjoyed and assisted with many activities at the church such as vacation Bible school.
Barbara is survived by her son Rex Neptune & daughter-in-Law Kelly Neptune, Daughter Stacie Casey, grandchildren Julia and Logan Neptune both of Roseburg. Also grandchildren Brandon Casey and Tessa (Casey)Taus, of Medford, Oregon. Barbara also welcomed her first great granddaughter Myla in 2018 and she, is expecting a brother or sister in the spring of 2020. Barbara is also survived by her Aunt Emily Bellm of Klamath Falls, Aunt B.J. Nuckolls of Roseburg and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
