Benjamin Bardin Melton, Born Dec. 10, 1921 passed away October 21, 2015. He will be laid to rest October 28, 2015 at 11:00 am, graveside service at Roseburg Memorial Gardens, with reception to follow for family and friends to gather at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, Roseburg, OR. He was son to Harlan and Francis (Trussel) Melton, Husband to Jeannie(Cady) Melton, who preceded him in death, father to Claudia Melton Ouret, Karen Melton Pyle, son-in-law Jim Pyle, Kevin Melton, Jackie Mathis, Grandfather to, Melissa Peterson, Katrina Gayler Potter, Shanna Gayler Mattie, Lucas Webberley, Great Grandfather to, Lukyas Merrell Webberley, Cady Josephine Mattie, and soon to be born Benjamin Chase Sconce, brother to Harlan (Patty) Melton, who preceded him in death, Wyona Melton Cordova, and numerous nieces and nephews. In his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and ranching. He was born and raised in Dixonville, where he remained his entire life, except for his time in the Army serving in Europe during WWII. He and his wife made a life together ranching, raising cattle and sheep. He was well known to those in need of a burning permit in his career with the DFPA as a Fire Warden. He worked hard all his life, he raised a family, enjoyed Westerns, Zane Grey novels and Fox News. He loved to tell stories some with a hint of mischief, spinning a yarn with more fiction than fact, and some about the history of family and of the area.
