Bruce Allen Benson, 55 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on Friday May 24th, 2013. He was born in Roseburg, Oregon on February 10th, 1958 to Frank and Norma Benson. Bruce grew up and graduated from Roseburg High School. He immediately started working for Beaver State and now Knife River since 1976. Bruce worked his way up to Asphalt Plant manager. In his younger days, he love to race sprint cars competitively in Oregon, Washington, and California. His greatest love was being up at Diamond Lake in his cabin, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding sleds, and relaxing by a fire. Bruce is preceded in death by his grandparents Julius and Edith Benson, brother Greg Benson, sister Pam, and a step son, Christopher McKenzie Rice. He is survived by his wife Debby G. Benson of Roseburg, Oregon, his mother Norma Benson and sister Kay, mother in law Joy Evans and family, niece and nephew Brian and Missy Benson and their mom Karrie Benson, brother Bobby Benson and his wife Lori and their daughter Anna of Battle Ground, WA, aunts Janice Marshall and Helen McCarthy, , step son Tony Rice and his wife Ashley and their children Kyla, Chris, and Cash of Anchorage, Alaska, special friends Nancy and Cy Heyniger, Jeff Fretwell and all those at Diamond Lake and work. A celebration of Bruce's life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday June 2nd, 2013 at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses.
