Bruce Allen Thouvenel was a dear man who was loved by his family and friends, passed away at his home on May 24, 2016, with his wife and several friends by his side.
Bruce was born in Modesto, California on December 5, 1949. He was a Vietnam Navy veteran who survived many cancers relating to Agent Orange exposure, but was finally taken by colon cancer that metastasized to his lungs. He fought a brave battle for many years. With his heartwarming smile and positive attitude, he was an inspiration to those who knew him.
Bruce loved riding motorcycles with his wife, Vickki and with veteran and nonveteran friends. They called themselves "The Good Ol' Boys" and he was also the past President of the southern Chapter of the ICVMC. Bruce loved old cars and with the help of his son, Bruce Jr and friend, Richard Routte, restored a 1931 Chevy. He enjoyed going to car shows with his car. Bruce was a big fan of Nascar and enjoyed the opportunity he had to drive a Nascar around the track in CA for 8 laps.
After the Navy, Bruce lived in Southern California and worked at a vegetable oil plant. After he moved to Oregon, he had jobs in the timber industry and worked many years for a printing company. He also had his own upholstery business.
Bruce is preceded in death by his second wife, Darcey Carlson Thouvenel; fater, Charles E (Jerry) Thouvenel and mother, Edith Vivian Tetrick Thouvenel.
He is survived by his wife, Vickki Stedman Thouvenel; daughter, Robin Angela Thouvenel Lambert and her husband Jeremy Lambert; sons, Bruce Thouvenel Jr. and Bryan Thouvenel. He was a loving grandpa to fifteen grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held while he was still with us and he enjoyed seeing over 70 friends and family members. A service with military honors will be held at Roseburg National Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016.
We will miss you Bruce. As Bruce liked to say "See you in a minute".
