Tenmile resident, Carl Robert Lawson died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at his home with his family beside him. He was 78.
Carl was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, on January 17, 1935 to Joseph Earl and Alma Mae Lawson. He grew up between Oklahoma and California.
He was in the Marines from 1952-1955 serving in the Korean War twice. He was a wounded vet.
He married Beverley Ann Clark on December 24, 1955, in Santa Maria, California and have had 58 years of happy marriage. They started raising their family in California before moving to Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley Ann Lawson; his 7 children: Harold Earl Lawson (Cindy); Frank Smith Lawson (deceased); Patricia Ann Glasscock (Lonnie); George Robert Lawson (Dee); Luke Edward Lawson (Evelyn); Suzette Marie Ams (Joe); and Samuel Adam Lawson; he has 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He loved going hunting, fishing, target practicing in the woods, camping, 4-wheeling when he was younger and then continued those activities with his family as it grew.
Services are to be held on Friday, August 30, 2013; at 9 a.m. at the Roseburg National Cemetery at 1770 W Harvard Ave., Roseburg, Oregon.
