Carmen Ardelle Wells passed away peacefully at her home Sept. 20, 2024. She was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Hoquiam, Washington, to Alvin and Dorothy Erskine. She graduated from Roseburg High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Donald (Don) O. Wells in 1958. Don preceded her in death in 2022.
Carmen worked for ODOT for 30 years before retiring and working with Don for ten years. Though Carmen enjoyed working, her passion was her family, and particularly her grandchildren. She was such a loving grandmother and every one of her grandchildren would tell you that she had a way of making each one feel special.
Whether it was traipsing across Europe, Mexico, or Palm Springs, Carmen adored spending time with friends. She and Don looked forward to new adventures and traveled frequently. She even took up golf to maximize the fun she and Don had together. She had many friends she loved dearly and many fond memories were made. Special thanks to Donna and Glen Mitchell who kept her busy after Don passed. Carmen’s family appreciated their love and support during that difficult time.
Carmen is survived by her sister Midge Peach (Steve), two daughters Kelly Brannon (Jesse), Kathy Spears (Jeff), four grandchildren Jamie, Kris and Casey Brannon, Lucas Spears, six great-grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 4, 2024, at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, 965 W. Harvard Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center.
