Carol Lynn Beamer, 69, passed away March 30, 2016, after a courageous battle with two types of cancer. She was born November 5, 1946, in Holton, Kansas to Les and Barbara Arthur. Her early years were spent in Dorena , Oregon, where she had so many fond memories. In 1958 they moved to the Green district of Roseburg where she was so excited to finally trade her horse figurines in for real horses- Babe and Rocket. With more room needed for all the animals, they moved to Melrose in 1962.
Carol graduated from Roseburg High School in 1964 and continued her education earning an associate's degree from Eastern Oregon College. She spent her entire working career with Oregon State Employment Office and retired with over 30 years of service.
Reading was her lifelong passion and loved doing crossword puzzles. She subscribed to the Oregonian just for the daily puzzles. You could always count her in for a game of cards with "pootsie" being her favorite. And she loved her "tunes" whether it was her old vinyls from the 1960's or newer Norah Jones & Willie Nelson CD's that she loved.
Her upbeat spirit, big smile and even bigger heart will always be with us. She will be missed greatly by those fortunate enough to have known her.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ron Beamer; daughter Amy McDannel who she loved beyond measure; grandchildren Sophie Vaughn, Aleah Austin and Tanner McDannel; and sister Jean Pittman. Our memories of her will never be forgotten.
A reception will be held in memory of Carol on Sunday, April 17, from 11am-2pm at Umpqua Valley Arts Assoc, 1624 W. Harvard Ave.
