Charles "Chuck" Thomas Hasty,
Age 97, surrounded by family, peacefully passed away in his sleep on Sunday, June 22, 2014.
Born April 18, 1917 in Danville, KY, to William Hasty and Pearl Lyons Hasty. He was the oldest of four children. Chuck spent his childhood in rural Kentucky helping run his family's farms. High tailing it on the rails for the city at 16, he led a storybook life of grit, determination and adventure. Chuck became a test flight engineer for McDonald Douglas during WWII and then on to Procurement and Quality Inspection Field Representative for Lockheed Missile and Space Company.
Beginning in 1973 Chuck entered a retirement centered around flying his plane, spending time in the outdoors and playing the fiddle... He and his wife, Margie, especially enjoyed traveling in their trailer(s) to Alaska, Joshua Tree and many place in between.
Margie and Chuck settled in Roseburg in 1988. They became very involved in The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association where they made many lifelong friends. Chuck fiddled his last "gig" just 3 weeks before he passed.
Chuck's family is eternally grateful for the love and care he received from everyone at Callahan Village, especially for the sense of family after Margie passed in June 2013.
Chuck leaves two sons and one daughter and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margie Hasty.
A graveside service will be held at Roseburg Memorial Gardens at 10:30 AM, June 25, 2014.
