After her initial diagnosis of cancer in 2000 she began a ten year quest for the spirit of life that has been an inspiration to all she met. Cheryl was a member of the Oregon Medical Association Alliance and the Bosom Budz Relay for Life Team. She enjoyed quilting, art journaling, good friends and time with her Bernese Mountain dogs. She was preceded in death by her brother Jeff Benham, and her grandparents. Cheryl is survived by her husband, parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held for Cheryl at St. George's Episcopal Church on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society. "If you go outside tonight and look up into the heavens you will notice a new star in the sky. The angels took Cheryl and added one more to their number. She always liked angels, and now she is one."
