Obituary of Chester John Golik
April 25, 1929 - October 17, 2023
Chester was born in San Fernando, CA in 1929. He graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1947, where he played football. He attended Occidental College where he also played football, playing in the Rosebowl in 1948. He married June Marie Brahm in 1951. He transferred to UCLA and graduated in 1952. He served in the US Army in Korea as a 1st Lt. Chet and June adopted two children, Curtis and Brenda, in 1956. The family moved to Bishop, CA in 1963 and bought an auto parts store. In 1973 they moved to Pasadena, CA and bought a Napa auto parts store, and eventually two more. They sold all three stores and retired. Chet and June traveled to 49 states by RV. They moved to Roseburg, OR in 2002. June died in 2014. They were married 63 years. A few years later, Chet moved to Riverview Terrace in Roseburg. He is survived by his son, Curtis Golik, who lives in San Diego and his daughter, Brenda Walden, who lives in Grants Pass.
A viewing will be held at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses prior to the funeral from 9am to 11am. The funeral Mass will be Oct, 25 at 12:10 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Stanton Ave. Gravesite services will be held at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in San Fernando, CA.
