Chet Cooper was born on April 16, 1947 in Huron, South Dakota to Hank and Helen Cooper. He died June 21, 2011 in Roseburg, Oregon. His family moved to Oregon when he was 3 years old. Chet graduated from Yoncalla High School. Chet served in Vietnam from December 1968 to May 1970. He worked for Glide Lumber for over 30 years until the mill closed. Chet loved playing cards, along with spending time fishing along the river or coast and traveling with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Irene Cooper, and daughter, Angie Diaz (Joseph) all of Roseburg, and a son, Rusty Cooper (Kathleen) of Palmdale, California. Chet is also survived by his grandchildren, Matt, Araya, Kylia, Kaiden, Kaleb, Mikayla, Zack, Hope and great graddaughter, Madison. Also surviving is five sisters and brothers, James Brandt of Scottsboro, Alabama, Shirley Sundquist of Glide, Oregon, Rose Stoner of Wilbur, Oregon, Henry Cooper of Almira, Oregon and Robert Cooper of Springfield, Oregon. Preceding him in death is his parents Hank and Helen and a brother, Gene. A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 am within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Pastor Dan Seiker will officiate.
