Clair Von Schriltz, 84, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away September 28, 2014. Born in March 1930 in Rathdrum, Idaho, he is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Luverne Von Schriltz, and son, Jim Von Schriltz. Clair was a 1949 graduate of Roseburg High School, and participated in the school work program fighting fires for the Forest Service. After high school, he attended Watchmakers College in Chicago, and was in the Army as a Sergeant with duty as Fire Control Repair Supervisor in Japan during the Korean War. He worked at Champion International Corp. for 32 years, and was a member of the Elks in Roseburg. Clair enjoyed hunting with his friends, and could fix or build just about anything. He enjoyed trips to the Oregon coast, and Mt. Hood, and had the experience of travel to other cities including Anchorage, AK, New York, NY, Savannah, GA, Baltimore, MD, Newport, RI and Memphis, TN. His favorite town was Roseburg where he had many friends. He is survived by his best friend, Pauline, daughter, Sydney, and grandchildren, Trey and Will.
