On Thursday, February 11 2016, at 3:33 p.m., the lord embraced a warm and gentle woman. Darise Prince-Cunningham passed away after a courageous six year battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by many, whose lives' were touched by her friendship.
Darise graduated from Roseburg High in 1969 and soon after received a two year degree in business management from Portland business college. Afterwards, she headed to California and worked as a server at Farrels ice cream. After returning to Roseburg, she held positions at Roseburg Lumber and Todd building company. She also managed the Roseburg Malls and was an office manager for West Ambulance. Darise eventually became a baker at Tolly's restaurant, loved putting a smile on her customers faces and especially the friends she made. One of Darise's greatest enjoyments was her ranch of 30 years, which she managed with her husband and long time companion Ron Cunningham. The two of them loved spending their time taking care of the animals, racing, camping and, in the early years, water skiing.
Darise was preceded in death by her father Gale Prince and mother Ellen Hillyer. She adored her family and friends and was respected by many people who she came into contact with. Most of all she loved her close high school girlfriends, husband's parents- who she so looked forward to seeing during their many family gatherings, and her family- whose prayer and unconditional love was so appreciated in the last days of her life with us.
Darise, we miss you so much. We know you are with the lord and the many loved one's you so cherished. Our lives are missing without you but our love was grown by your graciousness. Tell those we will someday see again hello for us and we pray your smile and wonderfully lit eyes are making heaven an even brighter place.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 11 a .m. at the Calapooia Free Methodist Church in Sutherlin. Please make any donations desired to any cancer or animal agency of your choice.
