She was born Oct. 10, 1954 at Douglas Community Hospital in Roseburg, OR to Ralston (Red) Cole and Ladenea Wise. Debra passed away 6-16-2018 of Lymphoma. No one can ever come close to this womans caring Heart and Kindness. She loved everyone. Debra met Duke Rodgers on a blind date and married him just a few months later. September would have been their 40th wedding anniversary. He moved her to the Bay Area where she helped him raise 2 of his children and he helped raise 2 of her children and together they raised one of their own. She lived there for 12 years. Debra while living in Cali, babysat children for her some spending money. Traveled numerous places when Duke coached baseball. Spoiled everyone! Duke, Deb, Blake, Curtis and Randy moved back to Oregon in 1989 back on property of the old homestead, that is where she wanted to be.
Back in Oregon, Debra studied and received her GED so she could apply for a CNA job. She worked at Rosehaven for a short time and decided to do private senior care. Her patients loved her!! And she sure loved them! Debra’s hobbies were cooking, baking and spoiling. If you went to their house she would start with “you want something to eat or drink?” few minutes later she would ask “Would you like something to eat or drink?” As she would have baked cookies, pies or cake, coffee, soda or water. She would usually do this until you gave in and she would be happy. Our mom always said “Debra would kill you with a spoon”. She loved Pink, the hotter the better in tops, tennis shoes, nails you name it! Special occasions she would bake cake and decorate . She made wedding cakes for family members and friends, Anniversary’s and birthday’s. Debra and Duke always hosted a picnic campout usually every summer around Duke’s birthday. Come one come all, bring your tents and RV’s. Their place would look like an RV campground. She loved those times. After one was over she would say “I don’t think we will do it next year” but without fail she would change her mind. She is preceded in death are her dad, mother and brother Randy.
