Dena "Maxine" Patterson

Dena "Maxine" Patterson Maxine passed away on October 16, 2011. She was born on November 20, 1931 to Bessie and Wesley Smithee in Oak Grove, Oklahoma. Maxine grew up in Oklahoma and remained loyal to her home state always. Maxine married Elmer Patterson on August 11, 1949. She was very proud of their 62 years of marriage. Together they raised their three children, Carol, Jan and Steve. Maxine worked at Colony Market for many years through the 70's and 80's. The neighborhood kids are grown now, however many remember her teasing and fun ways. Later she began to provide day care for many children. She will be remembered for the loving care she gave to each and every one. Maxine had a passion for her family unsurpassed by anyone. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. Her parents, brother and sisters were in her thoughts daily and their history together was a source of joy to her. She loved to share the many stories of growing up in a large, close family. Maxine is survived by her husband, Elmer Patterson, daughter's, Carol (Lynn) Evans, and Jan (Jay) Taylor, son, Steve (Wendi) Patterson. Grandchildren, Amy (David) Valencia, Leah Taylor, Ryan Patterson, Kylee Patterson, Brian (Jeri) Evans, Tyler (Petra) Evans. Great-grandchildren, Abigail Valencia, Jackson Valencia. Sisters, Fannie Petty, Jackie (Ed) Randall and Judy (David) Dresser. Neices, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to count. People she will be reunited with, parents, Bessie and Wesley Smithee, brother and sister in-law, Leo and Lois Smithee, and sister's Vera Smithee, Nancy Randall and Robbie Ann Smithee. Memorial services are Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. This is a local foundation involved in raising money and assisting in the fight against breast cancer.
