Diana "Deena" Luther

April 9, 1945 — November 16, 2015

Diana "Deena" Luther, 70, died Monday, November 16, at her Roseburg home from complications due to her brave battle against cancer. Deena was born April 9, 1945 in Seattle, Washington and spent the next seventy years as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived in numerous states but she spent the majority of her life in the Pacific Northwest in Washington, Alaska, Hawaii and Oregon. She spent the first half of her life as a homemaker and mother, while also running her own successful childcare facility. After a brief break, she turned her focus to a new career path and served as a corrections officer working in jails in both Alaska and Oregon, serving as a Deputy Douglas County Sheriff in Roseburg before retiring and opening a small floral design company in Sutherlin. Her next few years were spent with her husband Howard, traveling and visiting friends and family around the United States while attending weddings, graduations, family gatherings and the births of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid gardener, knitter, quilter, baker and dog lover as well as an active member in several churches, she also loved playing the ukulele with her friends. Deena is survived by her husband of 32 years, Howard C. Luther of Roseburg and her 7 sons and 2 daughters, her 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life is scheduled for Deena at her home at 1407 NW Jefferson Ave. in Roseburg on Sunday, Dec. 6th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Please honor her by wearing festive Hawaiian attire.
