Don was born in Drain, OR. He lived there until he joined the navy in 1937. He served on the USS Lexington, Torpedo Squadron. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. He received the American Theatre Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Medal, along with the American Defense and Victory World War II Medal.
He married the love of his life 'Annie' in 1947. Don graduated from the University of Oregon and their law school. He set up a private law practice until he was appointed a special agent for the FBI. After 3 years with the FBI, he and Ann moved to Roseburg, where he again set up a law practice and he became a deputy District Attorney for 2 1/2 years. then, he ran for a judgeship, a position he held 23 1/2 years until his retirement in 1985.
After his retirement, he and Ann traveled a lot, played golf and flew around in his plane, and enjoyed life.
His beloved wife of 62 years died in 2010. he then moved into an Alzheimer Care facility where he remained until his death.
Per his request, there will be no services. He was an honorable, gentle, kind hearted man and will be missed
