Donald Lewis Bates, 81, of Roseburg, went to be with our Lord on November 18, 2016. "Don" is survived by his daughter, Jacquie (Dave) Wagener; step children, Kathy (Jim) Gneo; John Tellone; Donna (Jim) Carey; Lori Ross; Terry (Martin) Kelm; Paula (Rick) Anderson; Angie (Kurt) Rethwill and Patti Tucker, thirty grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, his siblings Phyllis; Mike and Barbara.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Bates, stepson Michael Tellone and granddaughter Brittney Langford, his parents, Walter and Iris Bates and siblings Thelma; Pat; and Bob.
Don joined the Army in 1954, while in the Army he went to Airborne School and became a Paratrooper and a Medic.
Don enjoyed working with his hands whether with steel or wood, playing pool and softball, and reading.
A funeral is scheduled for Friday, November 25, 2016 at New Hope Fellowship, 764 E Central Ave, Sutherlin, OR. at 11 AM
