Donald George "Don" Caskey

MR. DONALD GEORGE CASKEY, 89 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017. He was born June 17, 1927 in Roseburg, Oregon to George Henry and Greta Marie Caskey. Donald spent 12 years in Roseburg public schools and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1945. He served in the US Navy in the Asiatic/Pacific and received the Asiatic/Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On November 8, 1947 he married Shirley Mae Woods. Don worked as an auto mechanic for 46 years. He owned and operated Caskey's Garage from 1946 until 1991. Don loved airplanes and knew the names of most. He was a member of the Elks, Lions, Junior Chamber of Commerce and EAA. Don enjoyed going to Yuma, Arizona in the winter months, watching football and basketball. He also enjoyed auto racing as one of his buddies in high school, Art Pollard, was a magnificent driver. Don was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Shirley Caskey; daughters Connie Johnston and her husband Paul and Dona Black and her husband Tom; son Jeffery Caskey; grandchildren Brian Bronson, Jason Bronson, Todd Black, Tracy Perry, Jodi Lollar, Jennifer Parnell, Keri Pennell, Angela Svetich and Holly Wright; 19 great grandchildren; nieces Becky Willhite and Connie Valliere and nephew Bruce Willhite. Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Willhite. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM within the grounds of Roseburg National Cemetery. Chaplain Dwayne Brown will officiate.
