A graduate of the 1946 Sutherlin High graduating class.
Don enlisted in the Navy after graduation and served on the Beltrami and Stratford crossing twice over the Arctic Circle and initiated into the TOP OF THE WORLD CLUB.
Don worked at Martin Box after returning from the Military where he met his future wife Flora Standley. He eventually retired from Roseburg Forest Products after 26 years of service. After retiring he spent many hours in his workshop, and started taking long walks. He would also walk down to a local caf on Saturdays and have breakfast with friends
Don was also an avid Rockhound with advanced lapidary skills; and drew the architectural plans for a 2-story house and then proceeded to build it himself with the occasional help of friends. He also drew the plans for a second home. Those plans were purchased by the architect and used to build further homes in the area. He was skilled in woodworking and made many items that were given to his family and friends whenever they would stop by to visit. He and his wife Flora loved to travel and enjoyed their visits to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and to the East Coast.
Don was a Member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Roseburg, Oregon, and previously of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Union Gap, Oregon.
He was married to his wife Flora Levana (Standley) Larson for 62 years.
Daughters Patty Welch, married to Craig Welch, living in Albany, Oregon, and Brenda Kay Larson of Sutherlin. Preceded in death by his son, Randy Larson, March 18, 2006
Preceded in death by sister, Marodine (Larson) Howell
Grandchildren: Toby and Katie Larson, Travis and Tori Larson , Amy Hegg, Jared Hegg, Crystal and Brandon Olson, Matthew and Breanna Welch, Daniel Johnston, Brittany and Jacob Dixon.
Great-granchildren: Destiny Irwin, Jordan Irwin, Sterling Foster, Jazmin Teuteberg, Jonah Olson, Ethan Olson, Rylie Larson, Brycen Larson, and Sylas Welch.
Great-great grandchildren: Isabella Irwin
Niece, Betty Nicholas; Nephew, Charles Howell

Arrangements: Funeral will be held at Chapel of the Roses, Sutherlin, Oregon, on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm
