My mom went to heaven at three o'clock on the morning of August 11, 2010. Everyone called her Dottie. She was born March 10, 1927 in West Eminence, Missouri to Bess and Gusta Sallee. She married Luman Ballance and moved to Oregon where they raised their two sons, living in the Roseburg area for more than sixty years.Dottie was a kind and gentle woman with a quick laugh, an easy smile and a great sense of humor. She loved her family very much and was a true and loyal friend. She was a full time housewife and mother. Although, through the years, after losing her older son, Stanley, her grandchildren Scottie and Lisa and her husband, she remained our rock. She was as proud of me as I was proud of her. She was my inspiration and my joy. I loved being with her; just joking or talking or listening to her guidance. My only condolence is that she is now pain free and has joined her family and friends who passed before her. She was preceded by my dad, Lumam, my brother, Stanley, my children Scottie and Lisa, her parents, her brothers Don and Carl, her sister Neta, her favorite "aunt" Bunch and numerous life long friends. Those of us left to grieve our loss and to celebrate her journey are her son Steve and his wife Rita, grandchildren Mike Ballance and his children Dakota and Ariel Ballance, Sara Morrow and her husband Matt and their son Aidan, all of Roseburg, her sister Lida in Missouri and special friends Maxine, Daisy,Martha,Kris and Bonnie. A son couldn't have loved his mother more. She will always be in our hearts until we see her again. Private family interment has taken place at Roseburg Memorial Gardens
