Dorothy Lewellen Morley

November 27, 1932 — November 21, 2014

Passed peacefully away in her sleep at home, at approximately 5:30 a.m. November 21st after a long battle with several illnesses including cancer. She was just a week shy of her 82nd birthday.

She was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on November 27, 1932 to parents Ora and George Ellis. She had nine siblings and was fourth of the ten total born to her mother. Sisters Martha, Eunice, and Georgia were older than her and Floyd, Charleen, Walter, Oscar, Judi and Thelma were her younger brothers and sisters. Georgia, Charleen, Walter and Thelma are the only siblings still living.

When Dorothy was about ten years old her family left Oklahoma. They lived in El Paso, Texas, for a couple of years before moving briefly to Porterville and Santa Ana, California, and then finally on to Sweet Home, Oregon, where she finished growing up. It was there that she met the love of her life Wallace when she went to his house to buy milk from his mother. They were married on June 1, 1952 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage together.

Their first son Alan Wallace was born in February of 1954, in San Pedro, California while Wally was stationed there in the Army. Ronald Lynn, their second son, was born in September of 1955, in Hillsboro, Oregon. Ron passed away in May of 2013 after a brief battle with cancer.

Dorothy had a strong work ethic and could not stand to be idle. She made a career of working in the grocery business, starting at the IGA store in Sweet Home as a young girl. She worked at Mark's Grocery on Harvard and then worked at Drive N Save Market in Roseburg, from its first day until its last. She retired from the downtown Safeway. Her home was always tidy and organized and she kept her yard pruned and mowed at all times. The coffee was always on and there seemed to always be fresh banana bread for anyone who stopped by.

She loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time vacationing with her boys when they were growing up. She was a faithful follower of the activities of her grandkids and great-grandkids and could be found cheering in the crowd at any of their events.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Wallace, her son Alan (Kathy), 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We will miss her dearly but find happiness knowing that she is free from pain and celebrating with her loved ones who passed before her.

Services will be held at Chapel of the Roses on Harvard Saturday November 29th at 11:00. A gathering will immediately follow at Roseburg Alliance Church 2165 NW Garden Valley Road.
