Age 88, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. He was born on July 15, 1925 in Walla Walla, Washington, to Lou and Marie Nichols Kinman. Duane severed in the US Army during WWII in the European as theater Medic in a Machine Gun crew in General Patton's 3rd Army 5th division. He received the Legion of Merit and three Purple hearts. Duane was a builder and Framer contractor for 41 years. He was a patron of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and a member of the EAA Chapter 1 of Riverside, California. Duane had a strong faith in God. He also enjoyed designing and building experimental aircraft and automobiles.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Kinman Sutherlin, Oregon; son, George (Wayne) Kinman; step sons: Ray, Roy, Benjie and Johnny Taylor, of Keene, Texas; daughters: Coleen Wolf South Dakota, Carol Ann Allison Salt Lake City, Utah, Connie K Spiva Arkoma OK; step daughter: Cathy Martin of Willis, Texas; sister, Shirley Thompson Curlew, Washington; 16 grandchildren; two great-grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia McCratic; sisters, Sharon Ferrante, Elvira McTimpeny.
A memorial service will be held in Sutherlin, Oregon, Seventh-day Adventist Church, 841 West Central Ave, on January 12, 2013 at 3 p.m. Pastor Ken Williams will give Eulogy. Pot luck meal will follow.
