Edward Otto "Ed" Pahl

Edward O. Pahl, Jr., age 77, died at a Roseburg hospital on May 31, 2014. Born July 15, 1936 in Racine, Wisconsin; married Nancy Ann Brink July 1, 1972; father of two daughters, Beckie and Judy.

Ed is survived by his beautiful wife Nancy, of nearly 42 years. Also, his dog and faithful companion, Scooter; daughter Beckie (Trent) Turk and grand daughters Grace and Kelsey; daughter Judith (Steve) Palmer and grandchildren Jason, Rebekah, Grant and great granddaughter Summer Lynne; brother Billy (Linda) Pahl and sister Peggy (Donnie) Shuman; mother-in-law Helen Brink; sister-in-law Sandy (Larry) Swift; brother-in-law Bill (Shirley) Brink; and numerous aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many close friends. Preceded in death by his parents Edward Sr. and Pearl Pahl; sister Joanne Gardener and brother John Pahl..

Ed joined the US Air Force in 1955 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1984. While in the military he served in the Korean War and toured in Japan and Germany. He received many certificates and awards including a commendation medal. In 1967 he was a Senior Data System Operator Tech for Lockheed Martin at Nasa where he received a special Presidential Medal of Freedom to The Apollo 13 Mission Operations Team which he was a part of. From 1978 to 1984 he worked at the Air National Guard, Ellington AFB in Houston. Ed also was a South Houston Police Reserve Officer for 8 years.

His interests were amateur radio, RV'ing, snow-birding to Arizona, computers, and a loyal Oregon Duck fan.

A memorial service will be held at the Roseburg National Cemetery on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11 am. At the family's request in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Oregon Chapter at 5331 Southwest Macadam Ave, Suite 290, Portland Oregon 97329.
