Edward Leroy Shockey

MR. EDWARD LEROY SHOCKEY, of Sutherlin, Oregon went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the age of 90. He was born July 3, 1927 in New Matamoras, Ohio to Kermit B. and Isabell (Smith) Shockey. Mr. Shockey was a high school graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy in Sasebo Harbor, Japan during the occupation. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SK2. Mr. Shockey worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement after 32 years. He served as Pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God in Gardnerville, Nevada for 9 years. The Shockey's most recently lived in Sutherlin, Oregon after living in Oakland, Oregon, Gardnerville, Nevada, San Jose, California, and Kansas City, Missouri. Edward was a great mechanic and could fix just about anything. He dearly loved his wife and family and put a high value on time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edward enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking. He was a member of the Assemblies of God in Yoncalla, Oregon. Survivors include his daughters Sherry (Shockey) Nelson and her husband Norman, Marla (Shockey) Hathhorn and her husband Ron; grandchildren Jena (Hathhorn) Parker and her husband Daniel, Amy (Hathhorn) Williams and her husband Shawn and Isaac Hathhorn; great grandchildren Sarah (Parker) Hultz and her husband Cory, Naomi Williams, Adina Williams, Alannah Williams and Brielle Williams. Mr. Shockey was preceded in death by just a few months by his wife of 68 years, Audrey Ruth Shockey, and also by a great grandson, Aaron Vaughn Parker. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Yoncalla Assembly of God Church, 1008 Hayhurst Rd in Yoncalla. Interment will follow within the grounds of Valley View Cemetery in Sutherlin, Oregon. Condolences and remembrances may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
