Eirlis T. Bice Jr. "Buddy" or "Whitey" age 70 passed away June 30, 2008 at his home in Oakland, OR of complications due to cancer. He was born on July 14, 1937 in Evanston Wyoming to Eirlis Sr. and Luella Bice. At the age of 17 he entered into to National Guard later transferring to the Oregon National Guard. Mr. Bice was known to family and friends as "Buddy" or to the many visitors to Douglas County's Parks were he worked for 36 years as "Whitey". If you liked to dance and listen to country music you probley danced to a song being played by "Buddy" at one of the many spots he played over the years, the longest being the Ponderosa in Sutherlin. He played Rhythm and Bass guitar, he could yodel and he only had to hear a song once and he could play it. "Whitey" after he retired volunteered to help with such things as Ucan, The Food Pantry and was a member of the Lions. He is survived by his children, Leroy and his wife Shirley, Susan, Randy and his wife Doris and there mother Lucille Clawson Bice. He is also survive by His wife Karyll Grimes Bice and step children Jeffrey and his wife Suzan, Michel and his wife Cathey, William and his wife Monica. Grand children Jessica, Cody, Darrin, Steven, Karlene, Jordan and his wife Kristina, Madison, Zachary, Tim, and Brenda. His Siblings, Sherman and his wife Carolyn, Bird and his wife Lynell, Rebecca, Overy, Roma and her husband Bob Leggett as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Services will be held at 10 am Monday the 7th of July at Wilson's Chapel of The Roses. His family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to Douglas Hospice.
