The world lost a beautiful lady and a kind, generous soul with the passing of Eleanor Evelyn Rowe Bovee, 94, of Canyonville, Oregon, on November 5, 2015. Known for her smile, integrity, and a desire to bless the world with her beautiful music, Eleanor was a caring and generous lady who did what she could to make the world a better place. Her efforts included supporting missions and missionaries, hosting and otherwise supporting international exchange students, and sponsoring needy children and orphans. She was a dedicated member of the Roseburg Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she volunteered with Dorcas and played the piano and organ for church services.
Eleanor was born on March 19, 1921, in Silverton, Oregon, to Emily and Alfred Rowe. She was the baby of the family. An Oregonian most of her life, she spent the first years of her childhood in what was known at the time as North Silverton in Marion County but also lived in Portland, Myrtle Creek, Roseburg, and Canyonville. She lived in Port Angeles, Washington for a year.
First and foremost, Eleanor was an infinitely dedicated and loving wife to her husband, Orval James Bovee. She was beautiful, with sparkling blue eyes and a quick smile that could melt your heart. She enjoyed a variety of passions in life, including playing the piano and organ, gardening, and contributing to the mission field. She taught herself to play the piano and organ and played beautiful music, often deeply emotional and straight from the heart.
Eleanor was survived by sons Harold Bovee and Leslie Bovee; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval; her parents, Emily and Alfred Rowe; her brothers Merle, Orvin, Walter, and Albert; her sister Leila, and her sons Donald and James (Jimmy).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a favorite mission or missionary as the mission fields were so important to Eleanor.
