Elissa Marie Bogardus passed away peacefully at her home in Roseburg, Oregon, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Elissa was born June 1, 1981, in Beaverton, Oregon, to Robert and Gloria Olson.
Elissa and her husband, Brad Bogardus, have a beautiful 22-month-old daughter, Brooklyn, who shares Elissa's radiant smile and infectious laugh.
Elissa graduated from Beaverton High School in 1999 and Oregon State University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Elissa graduated college in 2003 with a degree in interior design and minor in business. While attending Oregon State, Elissa met her future husband, Brad. Elissa and Brad would eventually marry on campus in front of Weatherford Hall.
Elissa moved to Roseburg in 2004 and established a home with Brad. They quickly made amazing friendships, many of which came from Elissa's job at FCC Commercial Furniture, where she was a Team Leader and Interior Designer. While employed at FCC, Elissa was a highly sought-out designer due to her passion for restaurant design and her attention to detail.
Elissa had a passion for life and faith that encompassed all that she did. She was creative and artistic. Elissa's family and friends were incredibly important to her. Most of all, she loved being a mother and wife. Elissa enjoyed spending hours in her craft room creating handmade gifts for her friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling, and one of her most rewarding experiences was an eight-week trip to Italy for a Rotary International Group Study Exchange in 2012. Elissa had a quest to learn and a deep appreciation for all cultures.
Elissa had a large army of people who stood beside her during this difficult time and supplied her with love, strength and constant encouragement. She will be greatly missed.
Elissa is survived by her husband, Brad, and daughter, Brooklyn, of Roseburg; her parents, Robert and Gloria Olson of Beaverton; her brothers, BJ (wife Amy) Olson of Tri-Cities, and Erik Olson of Portland; her grandmother Nancy Dillon of Eugene, and many other family members.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 14, at 1 p.m. at the Sutherlin Family Church. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life held at the Danny Lang Center. In lieu of flowers, a college scholarship has been established for Roseburg High School graduates. Donations may be mailed to the Elissa Bogardus Memorial Scholarship fund #1152, care of Roseburg High School.
