Ethel May Rose

October 8, 1925 — February 3, 2015

Age 89, a longtime resident of Glide, OR, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, where she joins her loving husband, Ray in heaven. Ethel was born to Anthony and May Santos on October 8, 1925, in Milpitas, CA. On January 20, 1946, in Hollister, CA, she married Ray Rose.

Ethel loved working in her garden, crocheting, and playing cards with friends. Ethel was proudly a member of the Glide Garden Club for many years. Her love and devotion as a wife, mother and grandmother was a great inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Together with other

family members Ethel and Ray operated a dairy farm in Hollister, CA, before moving with the Santos family to Oregon, in 1968. Ethel is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Sheffield of Roseburg, and Debby (Dale) Frank of Glide; three sons, Gary (Jeri) Rose of New Zealand,

Jim (Roberta) Rose and Tom (Billie) Rose all of Glide; grandchildren, Michael Dias, Robert Dias, Steven Dias, Rachael Frank, Kaley Frank, Graham Rose, Brian Rose, Jenna Rose, Shawn Hughes, Stephanie Henry, Matthew Bird, Christopher Bird, Joshua Rose and Zachary Rose (Shylia

Robbins); great-grandchildren, Mackenna Dias, Mason Dias, Liam Dias, Kalina Dias, Leilani Dias, Melanie Dias, Aubree Rose, Charlotte Rose, Benjamin Rose, Paris Hunter, Kira Hunter, Iris Henry and Asher Bird; a sister, Margie (Stoney) Cochrane, of Oklahoma; a niece, Krista (Mike) Reskovac of Oklahoma; a nephew, Slade (Julie) Cochrane of Oklahoma; and a brother whom recently passed, Gilbert Santos, of Glide, OR. Thank you to the Santos family for all of the love and support throughout the years. A special thanks to Sarah Calvert and the wonderful staff of Brookdale Senior Living. Family and friends may gather to pay their respects on Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Roseburg, OR. The praying of the rosary will be held at 11:30 a.m. with mass of Christian burial following at 12:10 p.m. with Fr Manuel Campos officiating. Ethel's final resting place will be at Roseburg Memorial Gardens next to Ray, her husband of 53 years. At the family's request in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ethel's memory to Community Cancer Center, 2880 NW Stewart Parkway Ste. 100, Roseburg, OR 97471, or the Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 1676, Sutherlin, OR 97479. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.
