Etola Shelton

November 20, 1921 — April 22, 2010

"Etola" Shelton, 88, Homemaker, died at Callahan Court Memory Care Community on Thursday, April 22, 2010. She was born November 20, 1921, in Duran, Torrance County, New Mexico to the late Ovander Willie Clarence Smith and Sarah Valentine Glover (Vollie). She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, & great grandmother. She attended Portales 7th thru 9th grades. In addition, attended Alamogordo High School 10 thru 12 grades and graduated in 1940. On April 25, 1942 married Lloyd Arnold Shelton. She spent approximately 3 years in Long Beach, California during WWII and worked at Consolidated Shipbuilding. Etola was a member of First Baptist Church and regularly attends First Conservative Baptist. She was active in being a sales person for White House Home Products, Benson School PTA, Ground Observer (top China Wall), Blue Bird leader, Campfire leader, Bowling. She also was a Boots & Calico & Buckaroo Square Dancer. She enjoyed participating at Ceramics & Paintings, Smart reading, and Red Cross blood one gallon. Etola is survived by her husband Lloyd Shelton, children; son Ronald Alan Shelton, daughter Donna Kay Shelton; Sister Mildred Kimmons. 2 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services for Thelma "Etola" Shelton will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, at Vine Street Baptist Church. Pastor Rick Hahn will officiate. Burial will be in Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, 965 W. Harvard Avenue, on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for viewing.
