Ruth "Evelyn" Stigers Alley

Of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Evelyn was born on June 11, 1925, in Los Angeles, California, to Lewis Franklin Brown and Alice Katherine Roskopf.
After high school, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company before retiring. Evelyn was a long time artist and enjoyed oil painting and crafts. She was dedicated to the First Nazarene Church of Myrtle Creek until her health issues interfered. She also volunteered through the SMART program, reading to 1st graders.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; son Marvin Stigers; and granddaughter Dana Watts.
She is survived by her daughters Susan Stigers of Myrtle Creek, Evelyn (Larry) Johnston of Elkhart, IN, and Linda Johnson of Myrtle Creek; son Ken (Bobbie) Stigers of Myrtle Creek; sister Bonnie Gregory (Brown) of Myrtle Creek; grandchildren Kenny Alan (Cindy) Stigers, Sheri Stigers Lopez, Mark Stigers, Melissa Lozano, Jeanie DePillo, Robert Stigers and Jimmy Stigers; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her friend Roland Merman and many other friends at Adam's House.
The family would like to thank Mindie and Cassandra from Amedysis Hospice for their care and support for Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held at Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 12 p.m.
