At this time he was also a member of the local baseball team and the Sutherlin volunteer fire department. He would later become assistant chief on the paid fire department and also serve on the city council.
Everett was an avid outdoorsman and spent many hours hunting the hills and fishing the lake and streams of Oregon.
He leaves two children Larry (Terrie) of La Quinta, CA and Linda Stinnett of Sutherlin, three brothers - Ronald (Donna), Merlin (Annette) and Melvin (Cheri), seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
