FRANK SALAS JR. 76, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 after a battle with cancer. He was born July 12, 1934 in Santa Ana, California. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he worked as a mechanic and a painter. It was the painter profession that gave Frank his nickname, "The Hawk", for spotting items that were not up to his standards. Frank worked for multiple contractors before launching his own successful business. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia; five children Elizabeth, Frank, Dominic, Stephanie and Stephen; four grandchildren Travis, Aidan, Rand and Ian; six brothers, Bob, Joe, Charlie, David, Danny, John and one sister Gloria. Frank and Patricia's whirl wind romance commenced in June of 1955, which led to a wedding in June of 1959, after delays caused by the Army. While in the US Army he found love for airplane competition which turned into a life long R/C airplane hobby. Avid camping and fishing fans, Frank & Patricia made Oregon their residence for the past 20 years. Services for Frank will be held at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses Mortuary, in Roseburg, OR on Saturday September 4th, 2010, viewing 10:30 am, Celebration of life 11:00 am.
