Freddie Lee Bates, age 76, went peacefully Home to be with Jesus on September 20th, 2019, as a result of complications from Alzheimer’s.

He had a way to make everyone he encountered feel that they were loved and cherished and that they mattered.

Surviving in his brother, Bob (Barbara) Bates of Winston, OR.His beloved sister in law, Ronnie Bates also of Winston, OR. His children Troy (Doni) Bates of Sutherlin, OR, Amanda (Gurucharan) Singh of Springfield OR. Deborah Bates of Eugene, OR, and Joe (Melissa) Sassmen of Woodland, WA. Freddie fell in love with Jesus and began living his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His prayer was that for all he knew and loved would come to the same choice that he did. He stated once that he never truly lived until he made that decision to be completely sold out for God. He enjoyed many years playing and singing with the Jubilee Band and singing in numerous churches. Freddie felt that having known first hand the redemption power of Christ was so important that he joined a prison ministry team.
A Home Going Celebration will be held at Church on the Rise on Diamond Lake Boulevard the Saturday, September 28th, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Evangelist Jerry Council of Hearts Across America will be leading the service.
