Age 90, of Roseburg, OR passed away peacefully at his Linus Oaks residence on Sunday, September 6, 2015.

Survivors include daughter Paula (Larry); son Matt (Denise); brothers Victor and Kenneth; sister Sr. Rose Marie; grandchildren Rachel, Eric, Alyssa, Rylie; and great-grandchildren Mikey, Sarah, Odin, Freya and Vala.
George was born in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up there as a young child and then moved with his family to South Beloit, IL. He joined the Army Air Corp, completing aviation school at the end of WWII and was discharged. He remained an active member of the American Legion throughout his adult life. He enjoyed his 40 year career as a structural engineer, which included projects at various GM and Chrysler plants in the Midwest, where he had opportunities to participate in the design and installation of production lines at their car assembly plants. He and his loving wife Dolores resided in South Beloit, raised their family there, and then relocated to Linus Oaks in Roseburg, Oregon, to be closer to family in 2007.
After moving to Roseburg, George became an avid supporter of the performing arts and never missed an opportunity to attend community theater performances, the Grand Victorian Theater in Myrtle Creek, as well as music and theater performances at Roseburg High School, Jo Lane Middle School and Umpqua Community College. George was also a marble shooting champion as a child, so it was a special thrill for him to attend and participate in the Guinness Book of World Records setting marble event sponsored by Melrose Elementary School several years ago. He also supported Special Olympics and was a "regular" at the annual Motor Activities Training Program event held each year in Roseburg. George also found joy in writing a monthly column for the Linus Oaks resident's newsletter and bringing donations to the FISH food pantry of Roseburg.
During retirement George developed a passion for wooden modeling, ancient ships and historical landmarks in particular. He enjoyed sharing with those around him and many of his completed models are on display in several locations in and around his Linus Oaks residence.
George took to heart the motto "Scatter Joy" and lived it every day. He will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.
A service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. at the Linus Oaks Community room. Please visit George's web site at
