Gerard Ledwith - "Irish" 1931 - 2008
Gerard Ignatius Ledwith died of complications of a stroke on March 14, 2008 at the age of 77. A Rosary Vigil and funeral mass are planned.
Gerard was born on 5 March 1931 to Ignatius Ledwith and Josephine Fearon Ledwith in Armagh, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States in 1953 settling in Los Angeles, California where he met and married Nuala Mulvey on 29 December 1962. Gerard and Nuala were married for 45 years and raised two daughters, Sioban and Frances. He worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker in the greater Los Angeles area, until he retired. In 2000, Gerard and Nuala moved from Los Angeles to Roseburg.
He is survived by his wife Nuala of Roseburg, daughter Frances of Roseburg, daughter Sioban and son-in-law Jerry, both serving in the U.S. Army in Seoul, South Korea, granddaughters Elizabeth and Colleen of Seoul, South Korea, sisters Moya and Vera of Sacramento, California and sisters Patricia and Anne of Ireland, and several cousins in Ireland.
Visitation is planned for 6:00 pm Tuesday March 18 at Wilsons's Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg, followed by the Rosary Vigil at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass is planned for 12:00 noon on Wednesday March 19 at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Roseburg with internment on Thursday at 2:00pm at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
