Gordon L. Light
Email Print Comment Recommend (3) Age 65, went home to be with our Lord Monday, May 19, 2008, following complication of surgery. Gordon was a lifelong Christian, member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1971 and a member of the Roseburg Camp of the Gideons International for the past 15 years. He dearly loved the Lord so we all know he is now at peace in our Savior's loving arms. Gordon was raised and attended school in Mandan, North Dakota and was proud to join the U.S. Marine Corps immediately upon graduation. While stationed in California just before his discharge, he met and later married Janice M. Garrow in August 29, 1964. They had four beautiful daughters. They were the "lights" of his life and he was very proud of his "4Ks". The Gideon ministry was a passion that Gordon dedicated the last 15 years of his life to and was very proud to be part of the Douglas County Jail Ministry in which he ministered to the local inmates, helping to bring them to the Lord he loved so much himself. He served as the Church Assignment Chairman and gave many Gideon Presentations and Testimonials at various Douglas County Churches as well. He loved telling people about his Lord and was often recognized as the "Gideon Man". Gordon is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd and his mother, Irene. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janice; his daughter, Kimberly Johnson, husband, Adam and their children, Ashleigh, Hailey and Patrick of Chandler, Arizona; his daughter, Kami Palmer, her husband Jay and their children, Tyler and Rylynn of Roseburg, Oregon; Kari Belcher and her children, Brianna, Brandy and Brody of Roseburg; and Kristi Larson and her husband, Danny of Boise, Idaho; his brother, Lyle and his wife, Janice of Riddle, Oregon; and sister, Sandi Fricke and her husband, John of Bismarck, North Dakota; as well as nieces and nephews, Darren Light, Dawnel (Light) Causey, Stacey, Tina and Diane Fricke, John Garrow, Robert, Louie and Edward Grant. Gordon was loved my many and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Gideons International, PO Box 27, Roseburg Oregon 97470 or www.gideons.org .
