Helen R Fink

July 27, 1932 — December 17, 2011

Helen R. Fink, age 79, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, passed away on Saturday December 17, 2011. She was born July 27, 1932, in Matamoras, PA.
While raising her three children, Helen was the Troop Leader for all levels of Girl Scout troops for her daughters and the Den Mother for her son John's Cub Scout troop. Many Scouts have fond memories of community service and outdoor activities, such as camping, canoeing, horseback riding, and skiing.
After raising her children, Helen worked as an Administrative Assistant for and attended San Francisco State University. Her goal was to complete her education and retire in the same year. During her studies, Helen traveled to many countries in Europe and Asia eagerly sampling and savoring the unique cultures in each. Helen received her BA Degree in Cross Cultural Humanities with honors and happily retired to Myrtle Creek, OR in 2006.
During her retirement, Helen traveled with the YMCA Seniors throughout Oregon experiencing all the natural and cultural treasures the State has to offer. She also spent time caring for her Great-grandson Morgan and Great-granddaughter Liberty Grace, with whom she shared a special bond. Two of Helen and Liberty's favorite places to visit were the Douglas County Museum and the Wildlife Safari. They also shared a deep spiritual bond.
Helen is survived by her three children Teri L. Fink, Gloria Clayton and her husband Gary, and John R. Fink II and his wife Loree, her 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and her sister Laura Pellitteri and her brother Earl Rickard.
Helen's ashes were committed to her niche at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, CA on Jan. 1, 2012, and a Celebration of Life is planned for March 17, 2012, at her residence in Myrtle Creek, OR, between 1 and 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests donations be made in Helen's Honor to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 750 W Keady Ct., Roseburg, OR, or Mercy Hospice, 2700 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR.
