Helen (Fuchser) Roth of Roseburg, OR. passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the age of 85. She was born in Gordon, Nebraska on February 6, 1925 to Fred and Edna (Schrader) Fuchser. They traveled 30 miles south of Gordon to their ranch in Cherry County on a snow sled. She completed the 10th grade at District 129, riding 4.5 miles to a country school on horseback, graduating from Gordon High School in May 1941. Helen was he youngest student in her class. She loved animals, especially horses. Her uncle Emil supplied her with the finest of horses, she worked on the ranch, especially summers, when Helen rode through their 8320 acres, checking the cattle, windmills, fences, and also helped during hay season. On February 17, 1944, she married Roger F. Roth, and to this union 2 children were born. A son Roger Ray Roth on May 21, 1945 and a daughter Faye Ann Roth on September 22, 1949. Helen was a homemaker and lived in Gordon while her husband Roger served in the US navy Seals during WWII. After he received his honorable discharge, he returned home. His work took Helen and the family to Alamogordo, New Mexico, where the first atomic bomb was tested and he worked with missiles and space for 15 years. Both of Helen's children, Ray and Faye, graduated High School in Alamogordo, and each received scholarships. Later he worked for General Electric, and they moved to San Jose, California for 7 years where Roger worked in Nuclear Research. Roger had a severe heart attack in 1977, so they retired and moved to Roseburg, OR. They purchased a small ranch, where both Helen and Roger enjoyed raising cattle and horses. Helen and Roger joined Mission Synod Lutheran Church in 1952. Preceding Helen in death were her parents, a brother Dirk, and a sister. Survivors include her husband Roger F. Roth of Roseburg, son Ray and his family of Camarillo, CA, and daughter Faye on Dansville, NY. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday October 4, 2010 at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, followed by an internment in the Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum at Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
