Henry L. "Hank" Felber
Died of complications from triple pneumonia on Monday, October 19, 2015, at Sacred Heart Riverbend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon, kust four days after his 79th birthday. He left us to join his Eternal love, Daisy, in Heaven.
Henry was born the son of the late George and Bertha (Hertschenreuter) Felber on October 15, 1936, on his family's dairy farm in Tomah, Monroe County, Wisconsin. He graduated high school from Tomah Public School in May of 1950. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and met his wife to be, Daisy Freiberg, in St. Paul, Minnesota, while he was there giving blood. Technical Sergeant Henry L. Felber and Mrs. Henry L. Felber were married on May 31, 1958, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Indian Creek, Wisconsin. They traveled many places over 17 years, while they traveled with the Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. By the end of 1969, they had made a life together, allowing them five healthy boys. In 1973, they were given a baby girl. In 1974, Hank was honorably discharged from 22 years of proud service in the military. Hank and Daisy took their family ofsix children and moved to Sutherlin, Oregon. This is where they created a name for themselves, in a small lumber community. The Felber's. Hank took a job with Roseburg Lumber and retired again, after over another 20 years of dedication to his field.
Hank was known for his generosity on so many levels, an avid volunteer in our community. He was actively associated with the VFW, DAV, The Eagles, American Legend, Trea, St. Francis Xavier, Sutherlin Dial-A-Ride, Sutherlin Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of NRA. He had a soft spot for sponsoring any charity that crossed his path, and spent many hours with his friends giving back to the community.
Henry "Hank" was known and loved by all that had the pleasure of meeting him. He was willing to give you the shirt of his back. He was a proud man of service, a loyal husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He chose to live life one day at a time, and one of his greatest enjoyments was a simple drink with a friend. An open door and unconditional heart are a few of the many things that we am sure will be missed. A creature of habit, the routine of his daily grind will not soon be forgotten. He had an avid love for the outdoors and there was always adventure, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, driving cross country, beachcombing, or just being a "hillbilly" with his buddy Kieffer. Thanks to all of you, for your friendship to our parents over the years. Your moments add to the many wonderful stories that make up our family's history.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Daisy (Freiberg) Felber; son Wesley Felber; grandson James Felber; brothers Andrew, Paul and John Felber; sisters Marie Weinhold and Deloris White; and his "best buddy" Temper. Henry is survived by his sons Patrick (Sue) Felber, Michael (Jenn) Felber, Daniel Felber, and Andrew Felber; daughter Tina (Jeremy) Gargurevich; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers George and Bernard Felber; and sisters Rosella Bloom and Izzy Ziegler.
