Hugh N. Jones

Hugh Jones, of Roseburg, went into the Lord's presence Tuesday, April 12, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Hugh was born on the family ranch in the Dixonville area to Clifford and Edna Jones on August 21, 1925. He lived in Douglas County his entire life and worked in the timber industry. He enjoyed cutting wood for his many friends in his retirement years. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee and Clifford Jr.(Snix), and two sisters, Lillie Mae and Ila Oar of Glide. He is survived by his five children: Jerry (Mitzi ) Jones of Chiloquin, Oregon, Jeannie Roberson of Oakland, Oregon, Ed Jones of Roseburg, Elaine Snow of Idleyld Park, and Kevin (Brenda) of Wilbur, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, Conrad (Jean) Jones of Bandon, Oregon and Norman (Barbara) Jones of Roseburg. He leaves behind several close friends including Junior Dawson, the Thomas families of Roberts Creek, Jim Stancliff and Dennis Morgan. Through his life dad was a friend to many more and always tried to help those in need. He is deeply missed by those left behind. Dad's funeral will be Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Douglas County Hospice.
