Age 87, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014. He was born on November 8, 1926 in Paragould, Arkansas. On October 15, 1947, he married Mildred Looper in Bakersfield CA. Nelson worked in the timber industry until retiring in 1988 and he also served in the US Army during WW II. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred in September after 65 years of marriage; his parents Ray and Lela Johnson of Stayton OR. He is survived by his daughters: Sandra (Ken) Palmer, of Roseburg, OR; Susan (Phil) Brashear of Coos Bay, OR; Lorrie Smith of Valdez, AK; son, Keith N. Johnson of Sutherlin, OR; along with one sister, Rayanna Rich, of Springfield, OR. He is also survived by the joys of his life his grandchildren: Kenette Wallman, of Portland , OR; Shawna Moss, of Gresham, OR; Stacy Moeller, of Vaneta, OR; great-grandchildren: Paige, Kyza, and Jorden Moss; Andrew Wallman; Kendall and Kingston Moeller.
There will be a celebration of his life with family and friends who he loved so dearly on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses in Sutherlin, OR.
