Olene Baggett Oglesby passed away just weeks from her 100th birthday. Born February 13, 1915 in Empire, Alabama, raised in Tennessee , she married Frances (Hap) Oglesby in May, 1941 and moved to the west coast after the end of WWII. In the late 50s Olene and Hap made their home in the Roseburg area. They were married 44 years when he preceded her in death in 1985.
Olene is remembered for her always-ready warm smile and the warm apple dumplings she served for many years at the Woolworths store in Roseburg. She loved music and started taking piano lessons when she was in her 70s. She had a strong faith that helped her through the hard times knowing that she would meet her Lord at the end of her earthly journey.
Olene passed away quietly on January 4, 2015. She is survived by two daughters; Wanda Cristel of Grass Valley, California and An Widmar and son-in-law Ray Widmar of Eugene, Oregon. She is remembered fondly by three grandchildren; Kevin Anthony and Kellie (Maricela) Anthony, both of South Lake Tahoe, California and Don (Olga) Wilson of Roseburg, Oregon; five great-grandchildren; Cody Wilson, Dillon Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Ruby Camancho and Marilyn Camancho; and four great-great-grandchildren.
