Ione E. Daly

IONE E. DALY 94 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at her home. She was born November 11, 1917 in Beach, North Dakota to Benjamin and Willamina (Zinne) Horst. Ione went to 2 years of Teachers College and did not finish due to getting married and having a family. Mrs. Daly lived in San Jose, California from 1947 until she moved to Roseburg, Oregon to be with her daughter in 2001. While in San Jose, Ione worked for JC Penny Company as a clerk for 30 years. She was awarded the Golden Rule Award and Ring. Survivors include her daughters Gerry Baptista and her husband Ray, Sandi Ciardelli and Mary Dalzachio and her husband Bill; grandchildren Mark Baptista, Matt and Marilyn Baptista, Paul and Stephanie Dalzachio, Dan and Michele Dalzachio, Dino and Deanna Ciardelli; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Ione was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Willamina Horst; the father of her children George B. Daly; her son Richard J. Daly; son-in-law Lindy Ciardelli; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 12:00 pm at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Pastor Mike Ruyle will officiate. Private interment within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Ione's memory to Amedisys Hospice 2510 NW Edenbower Suite 112, Roseburg, Oregon 97471. The family wants to give a special thank you to Aileen, Mel, Shawn and the other team members at Garden Valley Retirement Center.
